Periscope Cave - 40' deep 50' long

Periscope goes vertical just inside the entrance and then follows a fissure into the mountain. We are currently surveying this cave and will have a map to display shortly.

Shane looking down over the last and tightest drop in the cave.The cave is mostly climbable but a little sketchy at the bottom. The rope made the ascent out a little easier and safer especially with the camera gear.

I found this little guy at the bottom where I about stepped on him. He obviously didn't belong there. At least I am not aware of any cave dwelling lizards in Utah. He was cold and barely moving so I gave him a ride to the surface, back to the warm sun.

There are a few nice curtains at the bottom.

Once you are to the floor, the cave follows the fissure North and South. The South arm is the longest and makes for a nice tight sloped crawl.

Lehman Caves

Lehman's is an excellent tour cave, just on the Nevada side of the Utah/Nevada border. They do a 60 minute and a 90 minute tour. The cave has excellent formations!

Candlelight

Candlelight is an amazing cave with 5,469 ft. of passage, and is 342 ft. deep. It's name comes from the many candles placed throughout the cave by the original miners who found it. Entrance to the cave is gained by an 80' rappel down a 200' vertical mine shaft into a drift where miners broke into the cave. An old thermometer. Currently reading 58 degrees, but the cave gets much warmer the further you go down.

This cave is very confusing, and can be dangerous if you do not follow the markers.

One of the candles that the cave is named for that was left behind by the miners.

Silly Putty Cave

Silly Putty Cave is on the same hill as Nutty Putty Cave and due to its close proximity to Nutty Putty and its recent closure, this cave has been welded shut to prevent any access. Once a complete management plan is in place, then an operable gate will be installed.

Rabbit Trap Cave

Below the pile of boulders lies Rabbit Trap Cave which is located on the same hill as Nutty Putty. Due to the recent vandalism to the Nutty Putty gate, and fear that inexperienced cavers will attemt this more dangerous cave, the entrance to it has been welded shut to prevent any access. once a complete management plan is in place, then an operable gate will be installed.
